How do you decide if it’s time to refresh your current hairstyle? Well, if you’ve worn your current hairstyle long enough for it to make a comeback, then it’s time to make a change. That might be the easiest clue but you could be missing other hints that you need to make a change. Here are some questions to consider when deciding whether or not you should make a change:
Does your hair feel dry or coarse? Has it lost that once silky smooth feeling? Conditioning treatments are a simple, cost effective way to transform your hair immediately, keeping it frizz-free, healthy, and shiny for weeks by feeding it the nutrients it craves.
Is your hair color faded or drab? A good way to determine this is by holding your ends up to your roots (If your hair is chin length or longer). If you notice a difference in the color then you can thank sun damage and other environmental factors. If the difference between the root and end color is about two shades, then you need overall color to refresh your locks.
The key to making the right changes at the right time is a good relationship with your stylist. For the best results, a stylist needs to really get to know you to understand what will work – not just with your face shape and skin tone – but also with your lifestyle.

Hair Care Forum proudly supports our clients that choose to donate their hair to Locks of Love. This great organization provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 21 that are suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.
If you or someone you know is interested in donating your hair to this great organization, please contact us to schedule your appointment. If you would like us to mail your hair donation for you, please print and fill out this form prior to your appointment. Per the Locks of Love website, below are guidelines for hair donations.
GUIDELINES FOR ACCEPTABLE DONATIONS
- Hair that is colored or permed is acceptable.
- Hair cut years ago is usable if it has been stored in a ponytail or braid.
- Hair that has been bleached (usually this refers to highlighted hair) is not usable. If unsure, ask your stylist. We are not able to accept bleached hair due to a chemical reaction that occurs during the manufacturing process. **If the hair was bleached years ago and has completely grown out it is fine to donate.
- Hair that is swept off of the floor is not usable because it is not bundled in a ponytail or braid.
- Hair that is shaved off and not in a ponytail or braid is not usable. If shaving your head, first divide hair into multiple ponytails to cut off.
- We cannot accept dreadlocks. Our manufacturer is not able to use them in our children’s hairpieces. We also cannot accept wigs, falls, hair extensions or synthetic hair.
- Layered hair is acceptable if the longest layer is 10 inches.
- Layered hair may be divided into multiple ponytails.
- Curly hair may be pulled straight to measure the minimum 10 inches.
- 10 inches measured tip to tip is the minimum length needed for a hairpiece.
